My Training Training

Week 5 Of The Hybrid Block

I have a touch of unease as I close of this week.  Unease that everything is going v.well and that I’m feeling incredibly fresh.  Unease that something might just sneak up on me.  I know what the aims for this year are and whilst they remain the front & central target for between now & October I also have a slight niggle that I don’t want to be using them as a limiter.  I need to proceed with care! I need to make sure I’m getting this right.

This week’s training has been going really well. I know that there’s often an expectation for the bubble to burst or that we await the inevitable.  It’s not inevitable, I’m not seeking for confirmation bias to show this to me.  I also know that it’s often the case that when people are sharing their stuff on Social Media and the likes that often it’s said that they are only sharing the best bits and that if everything is pixies and unicorns then that’s not the truth.  Right now it is.  It doesn’t mean that there haven’t been challenging elements to my week parenting, work & general juggling.  It doesn’t mean that everything just is tickety boo.  It just means that right now my training is going really well.

So, how did the week roll?

Monday

8.6 mile interval session.

Today the Garmin Gremlins got me! There seems to have been a whole load of garmin gremlins lurking around.  My map went mental and the spilts in realtime where a wee bit bonkers.  I had one recovery section where it was clocking me running at 4:45 min miles (I think not).  What I do know is is that our body has no idea what Garmin says and has no perception of precise pace.  It’s logging & processing effort, not what wearable tech says! Anyhaps, the session;

  • 1.5 mile warm up
  • 2km @ HMP off 90 secs
