There’s Places That Would Give An Airport Arrivals Lounge A Run For It’s Money

I’m sure we’ve all seen the scene.  Love Actually.  It goes a little bit like this;

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere.

Now, it’s true, the airport arrivals lounge does ooze an awful lot of love, there’s a stack of emotion in there BUT I wanna stack up something that’s even more life affirming, brings back faith in humanity, shows the very best of people.  I’m talking about somewhere where you don’t have to know the person, there’s no history or story attached to it, there’s no obligation to do it.  It’s humans, with no attachment to one another, showing love, care, consideration.  It’s endurance events.

Whether it’s competitors supporting one another,  cheer squads out to support people they know, your own family & friends or the family and friends of others then people you’ve never met CARE and they care a lot.

Faith in humanity can be restored by being part of or watching an endurance event.

It pulsates with heartfelt stories, stories of resonance, stories of perseverance, stories of tenacity, stories of adversity, stories of strength & resilience.

Love, care & attention is shown by people who have never met other people, from cheering, to checking in on people, to sacrificing their own agenda to help another, to giving active help, water/nutrition, whatever people need.  From a hand up from the floor, to a handful of sweets, to words that mean more than they’ll ever know and smiles that say everything.

I bloody love an airport I do but I think endurance events top it for restoring faith in humanity for me.

I’d absolutely recommend you be part of it, whether spectating or participating, it’s so uplifting.
