Inspirational Stories – Anna Grace Taylor – You Can Do Whatever You Set Your Mind To

Met my wonderful friend, Anna Grace Taylor, this is her story…..

I was born eleven weeks prematurely with my twin sister which resulted in brain damage.

When I wasn’t crawling or walking like my sister, doctors first called me a ‘lazy baby’ but my parents knew something was going on and at eighteen months old I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, affecting both legs.

I took my first independent steps at the age of six, and learned to walk twice more following major surgery in my teens.
Unfortunately during rehabilitation, my body became exhausted, my immune system crashed and I became very ill with M.E. for several years. Doctors knew little about how to treat such a complex condition and it was then that I began to search for alternative ways to ease my symptoms and strengthen my very weak body. When I say weak, I mean rarely able to leave the house. Having a shower was no small task and seeing a friend was a major event. I could barely eat without feeling sick and there were times I was in so much pain I could not move.
It was a devastating decade but the alternative treatments (including massage, acupuncture, energy healing and nutritional changes) I used not only gave me physical and emotional relief but connected me with amazing healers and mentors who reminded me of my own innate spiritual gifts and a deeper reason for my pain.

I know for sure I would not be alive without opening myself to healing on all levels. Including the biggest miracle of all – actually learning to appreciate and embrace the body I chose in this life time, despite all I’ve been through.

You Can Do Whatever You Set Your Mind To…

In the last two years I’ve felt better than ever and to celebrate my 40th birthday in 2020 I decided to walk 40 miles in 40 weeks to raise money for a little boy with Cerebral Palsy.

Then last year, as a fundraiser for Chailey Heritage, a charity that supports young people with complex disabilities, I walked my furthest ever distance of 5K (3 miles) in one day! I was exhausted but elated. I use about 4 times more energy than the average person to move so I can’t tell you how challenging and sore it was for me to do that but I did and I’m so proud of myself! It was absolutely worth every ouch to raise a total of £18,500 for those children.

As frustrating as my limitations can be sometimes, I won’t let them stop me and never take the health and mobility I do have for granted.

I feel very lucky to live my life and look forward to seeing what happens next.
