So, I was 2 blocks down. I’d ran Manchester Marathon twice and neither had necessarily gone absolutely to plan but, as with all marathon blocks, I’d learned a lot. My Dad had ran a Good For Age time which would mean he had a qualification for London Marathon at the 2nd Manchester Marathon I had done.
This was my BIG opportunity.
This was my chance to run the London Marathon with my Pa. This was the chance for me run the race I’d always watched him at by his side.
I had until 2nd October to run a qualification time & get in!
I was a very lucky little marrow. I came across a wee post on Instagram from Andy Raynor aka FOD Runner on Instagram asking for some people to step forward and be open to be coached by him for an up & coming marathon. I immediately put up my hand and I’m so glad I did.
Andy is amazing!
He was open to the fact that my schedule isn’t rhythmical and that it was more difficult to programme me as each of my weeks sees very different obligations and plans therein. Work is more fluid and doesn’t stick to a regular routine. Husband has differing commitments and the kids don’t seem to ever work to a plan. I don’t lack in the commitment to getting out there. So, we decided that he would schedule me in terms of my weekly speed work and my weekly long run workout. This worked PERFECTLY!!
Andy provided me with regular feedback and was on the end of messenger if I had any questions or queries.
Andy’s training plans for me where progressive, the load increased week on week. I did things that I wouldn’t have done left to my own devices and not only did my fitness develop but I also think that my self awareness and training knowledge ramped up hugely too.
Yes, I ran the marathon time but I credit Andy with getting me to that starting line in the shape that I was in and ready to run the race that I ultimately executed.
I would highly recommend working with Andy and if you’re interested in finding out more then you can take a look >>at his Instagram by clicking here<< or on >>his website by clicking here<<
